Author and philosopher, Henry Thoreau wrote, "If you advance confidently in the direction of your own dreams and endeavor to live the life that you have imagined, you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."
His advice, so elegantly stated, rings true: you know it to be so. And yet, so few of us follow this path. The key to living the life you imagined, and successfully so, is to actually conceive this dream, give some thought to it, build substance into it, and plan.
The best career identification strategy is as above: in concrete terms define your dream job. The best job search strategy, again, is to define your dream employer. Once these are defined, create a plan for getting there.
Ah, I hear some grumbling ... of course it is work, hard work, time-consuming work. But is it worth it? You spend most of your waking hours, Monday through Friday, in the world of work.
Why not set some time aside, today, to review your career or job search dreams?
Success, "unexpected in common hours" can be yours.
